In brief: The MAS ETH in Cyber Security

We offer a unique opportunity to interact with professors and senior scientist who are the best in field. The specific modules are constrained only for attendees of continuing education programmes.

Structure and content

Programme description

Cyber security can be understood as an umbrella term for a wide range of different topics. The focus of the programme lies on the computer science aspects of cyber security. Starting from the fundamentals and then continuing with specialisations, the attendees of the programme are introduced to current topics of cyber security in the computer science department of ETH Zurich.

Objectives

Attendees of the programme get a solid understanding of today's challenges and problems associated with cyber security. Furthermore, attendees are introduced to state-of-the-art solutions, techniques, and research results in terms of the topics presented in the courses.

Professional perspectives

Graduates can directly apply the obtained theoretical and practical knowledge. The outcome will be different for each participant as the number of different combinations is almost endless. Graduates will have a thorough understanding of the fundamental challenges in information security from a technical point of view. They are introduced to the current state of research, thus being well prepared to understand professional articles and being able to incorporate recent results into their work.

Structure and format

The programme consists of a set of required courses (15 ECTS) as well as a set of elective courses (35 ECTS). It allows participants to choose from a multifaceted set of different graduate courses for them to either specialise in a specific subfield or have more general overview. To complement the more technical courses, the set of elective courses includes policy and strategy-oriented courses. The programme is finalised with a Master Thesis (10 ECTS).
