In brief: The CAS ETH in Applied Manufacturing Technology

The programme provides non-technical managers with a targeted technology education in product development and production in order to prepare them for greater responsibility in technology-driven companies.

Structure and content

Programme description

Participants of the CAS ETH in Applied Manufacturing Technology (CAS ETH AMT) learn about the most important processes and advanced technologies driving the transition to Industry 4.0 and how they are being applied in practice to develop new and innovative products across various industries. The programme consists of four modules. The first two modules are devoted to understanding manufacturing processes and production systems, including automation systems and robotics. The next two modules focus on product development and the selection of materials.

Objectives

Participants gain an understanding of how manufacturing technologies are applied to products and operations in their industry, with an emphasis on new technologies that will have significant impact within the next five years, and to communicate more effectively with technical specialists.

Professional perspectives

Graduates of the CAS ETH AMT are able to take on more challenging leadership roles in interdisciplinary projects with significant engineering design and manufacturing components and to extend their existing management skills to include managing design and manufacturing specialists.

Structure and format

Participants complete 4 modules over 14 weeks. Classes are generally conducted in either a block format or blended learning format. Study load is approximately 300 hours, including lectures, study time and performance assessments.

Additional information

The CAS ETH AMT is the second CAS in the Master of Advanced Studies ETH in Applied Technology (MAS ETH AT) programme.
