In brief: The MAS ETH in Applied Technology

The programme is uniquely designed for managers with limited or non-technical backgrounds and provides a targeted scientific and technical education that prepares them for career advancement.

Structure and content

Programme description

Participants of the MAS ETH in Applied Technology (MAS ETH AT) will learn how to apply technology solutions in specific industry settings by combining their existing industry experience and areas of expertise with a rigorous, interdisciplinary science and technology education specifically designed for participants with limited or non-technical backgrounds.

Objectives

Participants learn how technologies are applied to the principal products and operations of their industry (with a strong emphasis on new technologies that will have significant impact within the next five to ten years), as well as to make critical decisions based on hands-on knowledge of advanced science and technology.

Professional perspectives

Graduates of the MAS ETH AT are able to take on greater senior management and executive responsibilities within technology based companies in their industry and to take leadership roles in the development and implementation of technology based solutions for their company, including changes in operations, new business models as well as product development.

Structure and format

Participants complete 4 CAS followed by an Experimental Project and a Master's Thesis. The entire programme can be completed in two years. Classes are generally conducted in either a block format or blended learning format. Workload is ca. 750 to 900 hours per year including lectures, study time and performance assessments.

Target group and admission

Target group

Managers with a limited or non-technical background and a minimum of five years working experience in a relevant industry. Target participants include managers working in finance, marketing, strategy and other non-technical departments.

Requirements

Master's degree acknowledged by ETH or an equivalent educational qualification plus relevant management experience after graduation.

Withdrawal fee

  • Cancellation within 30 days after registration date and before the beginning of the programme: free of charge
  • Cancellation more than 30 days after the admission date and before the beginning of the programme: CHF 5,000
  • Cancellation after the beginning of the programme: CHF 37,000
