In brief: The CAS ETH in Applied Electronics and Digitization

The CAS provides non-technical managers with a targeted technology education in the design and development of modern solid state electronic systems, which are foundational for the generation and processing of data in a digital world.

Structure and content

Programme description

The CAS ETH in Applied Electronics and Digitization (CAS ETH AED) is for managers who do not have an engineering background, but nevertheless need to work effectively with engineering and technical managers related to electronics-based hardware products such as those found at the edge of IoT networks or operating as autonomous devices. Participants will learn about the most important processes and technologies related to electronics and how they are being applied in practice.

Objectives

Participants learn how electronics are designed, developed and integrated into products and services in multiple industries, and to communicate more effectively with technical specialists.

Professional perspectives

Graduates of the CAS ETH AED are able to take on more challenging leadership roles in interdisciplinary projects with significant electronic components and to extend their existing management skills to include managing electronics related specialists.

Structure and format

Participants complete 4 modules over 14 weeks. Classes are generally conducted in either a block format or blended learning format. Study load is approximately 300 hours, including lectures, study time and performance assessments.

Additional information

The CAS ETH AED is an elective CAS in the Master of Advanced Studies ETH in Applied Technology (MAS ETH AT) programme.
