In brief: The MAS ETH UZH in International Governance and Law

Draw from the combined expertise of ETH and UZH in the areas of international governance and law for a successful delivery of governance projects at an international level.

Structure and content

Programme description

Switzerland is deeply embedded in international structures, especially European ones. Executives and professionals from the public administration and other sectors, who are involved in cross-border projects, need to know how international bodies and institutions operate in order to be able to represent their interests to external stakeholders in a targeted and efficient manner. The MAS ETH UZH in International Governance and Law (MAS ETH UZH IGL) is designed to provide the necessary skills and knowledge for this purpose.

Objectives

The MAS ETH UZH IGL enables managers and professionals to successfully design, plan and implement complex governance projects and initiatives at an international level, especially in the EU space. This modular and interdisciplinary MAS programme complements the strengths of both universities in the areas of international governance and law and benefits from the consistency of already existing and proven CAS programmes.

Professional perspectives

Graduates are prepared to assume greater responsibilities in their current and future positions in an international and European environment and to effectively represent the interests of their institution in this context.

Structure and format

The modular MAS consists of three existing CAS programmes at the two universities: CAS ETH in International Policy and Advocacy (CAS ETH IPA), CAS ETH in Public Governance and Administration (CAS ETH PGA) and the external pageCAS UZH in Europarecht (CAS UZH ER)call_made. These are complemented with a MAS module, which consists of a three day on-campus session and the writing of a MAS thesis.

Additional information

The modular MAS concept offers students a flexible path to obtaining the MAS diploma (60 ECTS). The CAS programmes can be completed in any order and within an individual time frame (maximum of 6 years). Please note you can only apply for the MAS ETH UZH IGL (and its «MAS Module») once you have completed all three CAS programmes (CAS ETH IPA, CAS ETH PGA, CAS UZH ER and the MAS module). Candidates need to apply to each CAS programme individually.

The Swiss School of Public Governance (SSPG) at ETH Zurich and the Europa Institut at the University of Zurich (EIZ) are responsible for the implementation and execution of the MAS ETH UZH IGL. For more information about the respective CAS programmes, visit the website of the SSPG and the external pageEIZcall_made.
