In brief: The CAS ETH in Infrastructure Construction Management

A unique, practice-oriented CAS focused on planning and construction of infrastructure projects that imparts management skills and strategic knowledge for the entire life cycle of infrastructure constructions.

Structure and content

Programme description

The CAS equips professionals with the skills to lead large-scale infrastructure projects, such as roads, bridges, railway lines, tunnels, and energy infrastructure. The programme combines technical expertise, strategic management skills, and innovative approaches like building information modeling (BIM). Participants will learn to manage sustainable, resource-efficient projects, benefit from practice-oriented content, and build a strong professional network within the industry.

Objectives

The programme aims to develop leadership and management skills for infrastructure construction. Participants will learn to plan and manage complex infrastructure projects sustainably, apply the latest technologies, and collaborate effectively with stakeholders.

Graduates are well-prepared for leadership roles in infrastructure construction. They will be equipped to manage complex projects for infrastructure construction, including roads, railway lines, bridges, and energy infrastructure, while assuming strategic responsibilities.

Structure and format

The CAS consists of four modules focusing on planning, realisation, operation, and repurposing. It combines in-person teaching, group projects, and self-study. Study workload is approximately 300 hours.

Target group

Engineers, construction managers, project management consultants, and professionals in operational infrastructure construction who aim to acquire leadership skills and focus their careers on projects with significant societal and economic impact.

Requirements

A Master's degree acknowledged by ETH or equivalent educational qualifications, and at least two years of professional experience in infrastructure construction.
