In brief: The DAS ETH in Applied Statistical Data Science

The DAS ETH in Applied Statistical Data Science (formerly known as DAS ETH in Angewandter Statistik) builds on the successfully completed CAS ETH in Applied Statistical Data Science and introduces participants to modern applied statistical data analysis.

Structure and content

Programme description

Statistical methods are essential today for extracting useful information from data. The DAS covers both “classical” methods of statistical data science and the “modern” methods that build upon them in the field of machine learning. In addition, a broad range of specialised methods is introduced. This continuing education programme allows for flexible specialisation.

Objectives

Participants are introduced to a comprehensive range of modern, important, and useful methods of statistical data analysis. They learn to apply these methods appropriately and effectively in their field of application using the software R.

Professional perspectives

Graduates are qualified to carry out data collection and advanced analytical evaluation within their field of work.

Structure and format

The DAS builds on the successfully completed CAS ETH in Applied Statistical Data Science, extending the 16 ECTS credits of the CAS to a total of 30 ECTS. This includes a workshop presentation (1 ECTS) and a diploma thesis (2 ECTS). All courses feature practice-oriented exercises, and classes are held on Mondays. The programme offers participants the opportunity for flexible specialisation.
