In brief: The CAS ETH in Regenerative Materials – Essentials

A programme entirely dedicated to earth, bio-based and reused materials and construction techniques: It provides tools and methods to manage projects using earth, bio-based and reused materials with efficiency and creativity.

Structure and content

Programme description

The CAS programme teaches how to use local and low-carbon materials to offer a socially, ecologically and economically responsible architecture with an adapted territory approach. It deals with the planning and operation of architectural projects using regenerative materials. It provides students tools and methods to manage projects using earth, bio-based and reused materials with efficiency and creativity.

Objectives

Participants will develop competence to conduct complex projects using earth, bio-based and reused materials with realistic and affordable solutions in order to participate to the necessary ecological and social transition in the construction sector. The CAS programme highlights exemplary architectural projects developing circular economy and the use of low carbon materials. It permits to learn through real case-study (new construction, retrofit of existing buildings).

Professional perspectives

The programme enables Swiss and foreign graduates to work as project managers in city technical services, property developer and NGOs, with specific knowledge and skills on regenerative materials. Green certification programmes are becoming more popular and start to take into account the life cycle analysis of materials. Alumnae and alumni of the CAS programme will have the useful skills to support building owners and operators to be environmentally responsible.
