The programme equips students with the knowledge and skills to address global development challenges. Students can choose from over 30 courses to advance their expertise and sharpen their profile.

Programme description

The CAS ETH in Global Cooperation and Sustainable Development (CAS ETH GCSD) offers professionals a unique opportunity

  • to learn about scientifically founded concepts on sustainable development
  • to apply tools for result–based management
  • to reflect on own experiences
  • and to share best–practice.

Objectives

The CAS strengthens the technical and methodological skills of professionals working in international development or a related field, including sustainable development, corporate social responsibility or migration.

Professional perspectives

Participants deepen their specialist knowledge and expand their professional network during their CAS ETH GCSD studies.

Structure and format

  • modular
  • two compulsory courses on project management and sustainable development
  • about 30 elective courses on a broad range of topics related to sustainable development and project management
  • a minimum of 15 ECTS points must be earned (this translates to about 6 courses)

Courses can also be attended independently (not as part of a CAS).

Requirements

A Master’s degree (or equivalent) acknowledged by ETH Zurich plus 24 months of professional experience. More information and exceptions.

Min. CHF 5,480

Application fee

CHF 50 for persons with a Swiss university degree, CHF 150 for persons with another university degree (non-​refundable, credit card payment only)

Withdrawal fee

  • Cancellations are possible up to four weeks prior to the start of a course.
  • Students cancelling less than four weeks before the start of a course must pay the full course fee.
