This three-day short course, offered by the Health Ethics and Policy Lab in collaboration with the ETH AI Center, provides a critical overview and understanding of the ethical and regulatory challenges triggered by the use of big data and artificial intelligence (AI) in health. Employing a blend of lectures, case studies and breakout sessions, it delves into the ethical and legal questions covering issues such as privacy, bias, transparency and explainability, equity and non-discrimination. It also reviews current regulatory developments and governance strategies, along with emerging practical guidance and approaches aimed at assisting researchers and policymakers.
