Short course Health Data and AI: Responsible Innovations, Ethics and Regulatory Strategies

Eager to learn more about the ethical and regulatory challenges posed by the use of big data and artificial intelligence in health? Apply now to join HealthDARES. After an enriching and successful first edition, we are thrilled to announce the second round of the course, now as part of the ETH School for Continuing Education.

This three-day short course, offered by the Health Ethics and Policy Lab in collaboration with the ETH AI Center, provides a critical overview and understanding of the ethical and regulatory challenges triggered by the use of big data and artificial intelligence (AI) in health. Employing a blend of lectures, case studies and breakout sessions, it delves into the ethical and legal questions covering issues such as privacy, bias, transparency and explainability, equity and non- discrimination. It also reviews current regulatory developments and governance strategies, along with emerging practical guidance and approaches aimed at assisting researchers and policymakers.

The short course will equip you with the necessary skills, competences, tools and a critical understanding of the field to effectively address ethics and governance issues through your respective role.
