Learn the fundamentals on Cyber Security and get ready to tackle one of the most important challenges of today's digital world.

The CAS ETH in Cyber Security Programme provides the necessary fundamental knowledge to understand concurrent challenges in cyber security. The programme is designed to be accessible for professionals who not necessarily have a strong background in computer science, but who need a basic understanding of technical as well as more policy or strategy related aspects of cyber security.

Content

Computer science related aspects of cyber security lie at the core of the programme and are complemented with policy and strategic aspects of the topic. The programme comprises of three modules designed specifically for the CAS in Cyber Security summing up for a total of 10 ECTS points. The central module of the programme covers the fundamental concepts of today's understanding of information security. In the second module, students are assigned topics they are expected to prepare and elaborate on in a seminar. The third module includes contributions of ETHZ faculty members and cyber security experts from industry and/or government, who present the latest finding in their activity fields along with their perception of cyber security.

Duration-Time-Expense-Language

The programme is designed to last one semester and will be held every Autumn (September–December). The courses take place on Fridays (08:15–18:00) and the programme is thus well suited as a part-​​time programme. The total expected workload is 250–​300 hours. The teaching language is English.

Perspectives

Graduates of the programme gain a solid understanding of today's challenges and problems associated with cyber security. Furthermore, graduates understand the complexity associated with many problems in the field and thus are well prepared to understand the diversity of aspects necessary to take sustainable and rational decisions to address cyber security related challenges.
