In brief: The DAS ETH in Cyber Security  

From fundamentals to current research topics in cyber security, a computer science oriented continuing education programme.

Structure and content

Programme description

Cyber security can be understood as an umbrella term for a wide range of different topics. The focus of the programme lies on the computer science aspects of cyber security. Starting from the fundamentals, the attendees of the programme are introduced to current research topics of cyber security in the computer science department of ETH Zurich.

Objectives

Attendees of the programme get a solid understanding of today's challenges and problems associated with cyber security. Furthermore, attendees are introduced to state-of-the-art solutions, techniques, and research results in terms of the topics presented in the courses.

Professional perspectives

Graduates of the programme have a thorough understanding of the fundamental challenges in information security from a technical point of view. In terms of the chosen advanced courses, graduates are introduced to the current state of research, thus being well prepared to understand professional articles and being able to incorporate recent results into their work.

Structure and format

The programme consists of a set of required courses as well as a set of elective courses. It allows participants to choose from a multifaceted set of graduate courses. To complement the more technical courses, the set of elective courses includes policy and strategy-​​oriented courses.

Target group and admission

Target group

The target audience for the course are professionals, engineers as well as executive staff members from the industry or the public sector (including military and intelligence), who need in-depth knowledge in terms of information technology related fields of information security.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree acknowledged by ETH in computer science or in a related field plus work experience in an area relevant for the topic of the programme.
